Society History
The Crow Wing County Genealogical Society was organized in 1977.
Society Purpose
To collect, preserve and disseminate information of genealogical and related historical and biographical nature.
To establish and maintain for the use of its members and other researchers interested in these subjects, a library of genealogical, local historical, and biographical resources.
To hold meetings for instruction and pleasure of its members.
Society Resources
We combine our materials with that of the FamilySearch Center at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The library includes a sizable collection of books, microfilm and microfiche. We have a card file of obituaries indexed from Brainerd newspapers. This file is not complete, however, but a work in progress.
We also have a Crow Wing County Genealogical Society Facebook Page. If you are a Facebook user, please give us a .

The Crow Wing County Genealogical Society has its regular meetings on the fourth Thursday of March, May, August and October. An informal social hour begins at 6:00 PM to allow members a chance to visit and talk. The meeting, with program, is called to order at 7:00 and adjourns by about 8:30-9:00. Elections for the following year are held at the October meeting. There are no meetings during the holiday/winter months of November, December, January and February.
The meetings are usually held at the FamilySearch Center at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 101 W. Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd. On occasion the Society will meet at another site if the program warrants it.
The Society also has informal Sharing and Research get-togethers on the fourth Thursday of April, June, July and September, also held at the FamilySearch Center, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. These events are open to the general public so that non-members interested in genealogy can come in and learn more about researching their family history.
